How
one does valve adjustment of a generator?
Remove
he rocker lever covers.
Locate the Top Dead Center for cylinder number 1
Use ½ inch drive and engine bearing tool to rotate
the engine clockwise when facing the damper until cylinder number 4 for four
cylinder engine or until cylinder 6 for six cylinder engine intake rocker arm
starts to open the intake valve
[Wiggle
the rocker arm while barring the engine.
When
the rocker arm gets tight, stop barring]
Adjust
Valve of Diesel generator:
The clearance is correct when some resistance is
felt when the feeler gauge is slipped between the valve stem and the rocker
lever.
Intake
Clearance: 0.254 mm= 0.010 inch
Exhaust Clearance: 0.508 mm=0.20
inch
How
one 4-cylinder Engine Valve adjusts?
Four
cylinder Engine Valve Adjust:
One must sure firstly engine at TOP Dead Center for
cylinder number 1.
Set only valves indicated by the arrows (E= exhaust,
I = Intake ) Do not set valve which are not indicated.
Holding the knockout steady with the wrench, adjust
the valve clearance with the screwdriver or allen wrench. Tighten the lockout and measure the valve
lash again.
Torque Value: 24 N-m = 18 ft-lb
Mark the vibration damper and rotate the crankshaft
360 degrees.
Adjust the as indicated illustration.
Torque Value: 24 N-m = 18 ft-lb
Six
cylinder engine Valve Adjustment:
Make sure the engine at Top Dead Center for cylinder
Number 1.
Set only valves indicated by the arrows (E= exhaust,
I = Intake ) Do not set valve which are not indicated.
Holding the knockout steady with the wrench, adjust
the valve clearance with the screwdriver or allen wrench. Tighten the lockout and measure the valve
lash again.
Torque Value: 24 N-m = 18 ft-lb

Finishing step of Valve Adjustment:
Check the rocker lever covers for cracks.
Install the rocker lever covers.
