What are the basic parts of an ignition System?

Ignition System:  Ignition system is a part of electric system of the automobile engineering. It purpose to create high voltage about 20,000 volts and to deliver this high voltage to the combustion chamber in the engine. These high voltage surges then cause electric spark in the combustion chambers. The spark ignite or set fire to the air fuel mixture in the combustion chambers so that it burns and causes the engine to operate.  What are the basic parts of an ignition System? Ignition System basic parts: There are three basic parts of a ignition system : i.                      The spark plug. ii.                    The ignition coil iii.                   The ignition distributor.

Ignition Coil

Ignition Coil: Ignition coil contains in ignition system. There have two types of ignition coil.  a.      Primary winding:  It contains heavy wire where it has 200-300 turns. b.       Secondary winding: It contains thin where it has thousands of turn. Classification of Ignition system: Basically ignition system divided by two types.. 1.      Mechanical ignition system. Mechanical ignition system also divided by two types  a.      Battery coil/contact point b.      Magneto ignition. 2.      Electronic ignition system.

Introduction of Ignition System

Ignition System: i.                    Produce 30,000 volts across spark plug. ii.                  Distributer high voltage spark to each spark plug in correct sequence.  iii.               Times the spark when piston reaches TDC. iv.               With the speed load and another conditions the spark timing is varies. Main Components of Ignition System: 1.      Battery  2.        Ignition Switch 3.      Ignition coil 4.      Ignition system wire 5.      Spark plug 6.      Switching device.
