0.      Disengage the driven unit or if equipped put the transmission in neutral


1.      While cranking the engine, inject metered amounts of starting fluid


2.      Engine oil p-pressure must be indicated on the gauge within fifteen seconds after starting.

One should not use volatile material for cold starting diesel generator because of the potential for an explosion.


One must keep away all flames, sparks and arcing switches from starting fluid if it is used for starting cold weather diesel generator because it is highly flammable.


Do not breathe starting fluid fumes. Starting fluid fumes can be hazardous to ones health.



One should not use excess amount of fluid for starting the diesel generator engine because huge amount of fluid damage the diesel engine.



-          Spray starting fluid into the air cleaner intake while another person cranks the engine.
