History of Marine Steam Engine

Marine steam engine which is more used in ship for creating power for supply to mechanical energy in a ship. Reciprocating steam engine is more used in ship.

After world war II people made steam engine which create a large amount of power. But day by day change of technology now more used in ship diesel engines and steam turbines. In 1712 Thomas Newcomen first commercially developed Marine Steam Engine who was a Scottish engineer. After one hundred year in 18^th century steam engine more developed and walk on way of water which is 1^st steamboat ride in world successfully. Following this 1807 Robert Fulton successfully developed a watt engine.

In 19^th century Marine steam engine is more developed by scientist. And Marine Steam Engine divided by two method of manufacture number one is Cylinder technology and number two is connection mechanism. Some example of connection mechanism is crosshead, side lever, vibrating lever, vertical, oscillating, back acting, trunk, direct acting, Siamese, grasshopper, steeple, walking beam engine. Some cylinder technology marine steam engines are simple, compound and multiple marine steam engine.

Now more used in Marine steam engine gear where one find a speed control in revolution per minute. In 19^th century Marine Steam is more developed and people try to discover the gear for speed increase and decrease easily. By using gear one can circumvolution of propeller at various speed easily. Propeller run at high speed than engine when it is attached at gear.

How can the problem be remedied : No residual magnetism, reversed field connection and high resistance of field circuit are responsible for the failure of build up process of a dc generator. The factors are explained below: No residual magnetism: For the starting build up process requires some residual magnetism in the magnetic circuit then no voltage will be generated that can produce current flow through field circuit. Reversed field connection: The voltage induced inside the coil of field circuit due to residual magnetism that can permit the flow of current. For the following direction of this flux will be created and the direction of this flux will be same direction as the residual flux. If the field connections are reversed the lines of flux produced by current flow will oppose the residual flux, as a result generate voltage will decrease rather than increase.
