What is Buoyancy?

  Buoyancy: Whenever a bodt is immersed wholly or partially in a fluid it is subjected to an upward force which tends to lift it up. This tendency for a immersed body to be lifted up in the fluid, due to an upward force opposite to action of gravity is known as buoyancy. The force tending to lift up the body under such conditions is known as buoyancy force or force of buoyancy or upthrust. The magnitude of the buoyant force can be determined by Archimedes principle which states as follow ”When a body is immersed in a fluid either wholly or partially, it is buoyed or lifted up by a force, which is equal to the weight of fluid displacement by the body.   Center of Buoyancy: The point of application the force of buoyancy on the body is known as the center of buoyancy.   With maximum efficiency a centrifugal pump generally work. Centrifugal pump perform in various way when the pump is run at different condition at different conditions from it’s design conditions. The pump under various conditions to symbol of   the behavior such as speed, tests, powers, discharges, heads are usually conducted. If we plot this result of a characteristics of a pump in graph paper we find a curve which is called characteristics curve. About the performance of a pump in it’s installation these curve provide important information. Merits of Centrifygal Pump

  For high heads and small discharges the reciprocating pumps are still employed of higher efficiency. High pressure can be build up by a reciprocating pump. It also be used for lifting oil from very deep oil wells. 1.       Output from the pump is uniform 2.       On the power source the torque is uniform 3.       Centrifugal pump cost is lower then it parts 4.       Capability of discharge is greater than of a reciprocating pump 5.       It can be employed for lighting highly viscous liquid such as paper pulp, muddy and sewage water, oil, sugar and molasses etc. 6.       Maintenance and installation is cheaper and easier. 7.       It is hands and compact is smaller size and weight for same capacity for the energy transfer. 8.       An oil engine or an electric motor it can be coupled directly. 9.       Characteristics are superior of it’s performance 10.   Without any danger cavitation and separation it can be operated very high speed.
