What is the difference between hydrostatic slide ways and hydrodynamic slide ways

Difference between hydrostatic slide ways and hydrodynamic slide ways are given below Hydrostatic slide ways Hydrodynamic slide ways Liquid friction condition of the interface of mating surface are achieved by supplying under pressure. Liquid friction condition between sliding surfaces are achived due to Hydrodynamic action. Sliding bodies must not be inclined to each other. Sliding bodies must be inclined each other. Possiblity of all sliding speed including zero speed. Possiblity of high sliding speed. Used in high expensive machine. Used in low expensive machine. Example: Grinding programmed controled & coppying machine.  Example: verticle boring & planning machine.

What are the basic rules of applying clamping force?

Clamp:    Clamp is a basic element of workholder. The action of pressing the workpiece against the locating surface and hold it against the forces acting upon it is known as clamping. Basic rules of applying clamping forces: Ø Clamping force should be directed towards the nest or locating surfaces. Ø They should be arranged in such a way that the thrust of cutting tool is at a required distance from the clamp. Ø Clamping forces are to be applied on the heavy and strengthy portion of the workpiece. Ø Clamping device should be designed in such a way that it would act for the specific and the correct work.   The above discussed points of rules of applying the clamping forces should be maintained mandatorily otherwise workpiece on which operation to be performed may collapse.

3-2-1 Locating Principle. Why generally in base plane three locating pins are used?

3-2- 1 Method of Location:  3-2- 1 method of location is the fundamental arrangement of locating system. A work piece may be positively and properly located by means of six pins,so positioned that collectively they restrict the work piece in nine of it’s degree of freedom. For this purpose a definite arrangement is used. This   arrangement is called 3-2-1 method of location.   Cause of using three locating pins in base plane : A minimum of three points or pins or locators are generally used in base plane to locate the work piece, although four or more may be used to provide adequate support. It should be noted that a minimum of three pins will always theoritically establish the same location of the work piece. four or more pins(locators)don’t establish this type of theoritical location because if the work piece surface is not geometrically true, the position is still determined by three pins. Three pining system create one surface which is geometrical
