Standard Transmission Ratio

Wherever possible to all shafts of the drive, standard speeds should be assigned. Designing the layout of mechanical drive: The basic speed changing unit is a two shaft where one is driving and another is driven in the drive system. For a constant speed of the input shaft different transmission ratio between the input shaft and the output shaft can be engagged so that required   speeds of the output shaft speeds of the output shaft are produced. The motion and the torque can be transmitted through belts, coupling and gears. Advantage of Couple Pulley Drive: 1.       Simple in Design. 2.       Low investment. 3.       Noiseless and smooth running which is particularly useful in finishing operations. 4.       High mechanical efficiency due to less frictional loss. 5.       Rubberized belt drives can absorb shocks due to overload. For this reason most of the machine tools have at least one belt driven in the drive system.  6.       Feasib
